EVALUACIÓN DE LA DENOMINACIÓN Y COMPRENSIÓN DE PALABRAS ABSTRACTAS Y CONCRETAS

Se presentan el diseno y el estudio normativo de una prueba que evalua la capacidad de denominacion y comprension de palabras abstractas y concretas. La prueba fue creada con el objetivo de contar con una herramienta sensible para detectar dificultades de denominacion en individuos con alta escolaridad, en estadios incipientes de un proceso de deterioro cognitivo. Se reportan los resultados del estudio normativo realizado en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, con 251 participantes controles, de mas de 50 anos de edad y diferentes niveles de escolaridad. Los resultados muestran un efecto significativo de la escolaridad, a favor de las personas mas instruidas, en la capacidad de denominacion de palabras abstractas y concretas, de alta y baja frecuencia y en la capacidad de comprension de palabras abstractas, de alta y baja frecuencia. Las caracteristicas de la prueba y los resultados obtenidos en el estudio normativo, la convierten en una herramienta que puede ser de utilidad para detectar dificultades de denominacion en poblaciones patologicas, de alta escolaridad, con quejas de anomia y buen rendimiento en tests de denominacion de dibujos. Palabras clave Anomia Denominacion Concretud Imaginabilidad ABSTRACT NAMING AND COMPREHENSION OF ABSTRACT AND CONCRETE WORDS ASSESSESMENT This paper presents the design and the normative study of a test that assesses the naming and comprehension of concrete and abstract words. The test was created with the aim of providing a sensitive tool to detect difficulties of naming in individuals with high education, in incipient stages of a process of cognitive impairment. Results of the normative study are reported. The normative study was run in Buenos Aires, with 251 control participants of more than 50 years of age and different levels of education. The results showed a significant effect of education, in favor of the most educated, in the ability to name abstract and concrete words, of high and low frequency and the ability to understand abstract words, of high and low frequency. The characteristics of the test and the results obtained in the normative study make it a tool that can be useful to detect naming difficulties in high educated pathological populations, with complaints of anomia and good performance on tests of picture naming.
