A Positive Output Step Up Boost Converter for Renewable Energy Applications

Switched capacitor and Switched inductor network is used to boost the output voltage of the dc-dc boost converter. This method proved to be a good way to reduce voltage stress on the switch. The input current of the proposed step-up dc-dc is continuous in characteristics making the converter suitable for energy storage and renewable energy applications. The analysis is performed using ideal assumptions and compared with recently published boost converters. This converter is operated using one switch that is why a simple controller is required. A 200W proposed dc to dc converter hardware prototype is developed. The converter performance was found good in open-loop conditions.
