Coupled VCSEL arrays: a model system for two-dimensional photonic crystals

Coupled arrays of VCSELs are employed as a model for two-dimensional photonic crystals, making possible the investigation of optical disorder, strain and photonic heterostructure confinement experimentally and theoretically.
