A Real-time Injection Control System for Transient Operation of IC Engines

2017
In this paper we present a real-time injection control system for the transient operation of direct injection (DI) diesel engines. Specifically, the optimization has been performed with respect to four fuel injection parameters, namely, start of injection timing of two asynchronous fuel pulses and the injection duration of the two pulses, of the Sulzer-S20 DI diesel engine. A common rail injection system is assumed, and optimal injection profile is sought for different torque requirements. It has been shown that the proposed injection control system has a response time of O(0.1s) making it a promising system.text
