Synergism Effect of Perospirone on Paroxetine in Antidepressant Treatment

2013
Objective To discuss the synergism and safety of perospirone on paroxetine which is the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor in antidepressant treatment. Methods Eighty patients whose feedback of only paroxetine antidepressant treatment was not well were randomly divided into study group(40 cases)combined with perospirone therapy and control group(40 cases)combined with cobamamide therapy. The treatment courses lasted for 6 weeks. The efficacy was evaluated by Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD)before treatment, and at 2,4 and 6 weeks of treatment.Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS)was applied to record drug adverse reaction. Results In the study group, after 2 weeks of treatment, the HAMD score was significantly decreased compared with that before treatment(P0.05).Sixteen cases recovered after 6 weeks of treatment and 10 cases were improved whose HAMD scores were significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P0.05).In the control group, the HAMD score had no significant difference compared with that before treatment(P0.05).One case recovered after 6 weeks of treatment and 2 cases were improved.HAMD scores had no significant difference compared with those before treatment(P0.05).Both groups had no significant difference in TESS scores(P0.05)at all timepoints.Four cases in the study group and 16 cases in the control group needed estazolam to help sleeping. The incidence of agrypnia in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Perospirone can promote the effect of paroxetine in antidepressant treatment with safety,no additional adverse reactions and effects to help sleeping.
