AIDS: Can Some Infants Beat HIV?

1996
For years, AIDS researchers have passionately debated the possibility that some people 9s immune systems might be able to clear HIV infection. Earlier claims were controversial, but two large European studies have yielded what some researchers regard as solid evidence that infants, at least, can cast off the virus. In a total of about 400 babies born to HIV-positive mothers, the studies identified some 20 who were originally infected and later had no detectable virus in their blood.
