Synthesis of the self‐complementary RNA‐DNA hybrid:R(GCG)D(TATACGC)

A nucleic acid fragment containing a RNA trimer and a DNA heptamer wich are linked by a 3′-5′-internucleotide phosphodiester bond has been synthesized by a phosphotriester approach. The sequence of the nucleosides is such that they will form a self-complementary double-helical fragment which may serve as a probe to get more insight into the process of discontinuous DNA replication.
