Studies on root characteristics of no-tillage and seedling broadcast cultivation in rice.

Three years of field experiments from 2005 to 2007 were conducted in double cropping rice fields to study the root characteristics of no-tillage and seedlings broadcast cultivation in rice.The results showed that the root dry weight in the no-tillage and seedlings broadcast(NSB) treatment was lower than that in the conventional tillage and seedlings transplanted(NST) treatment,and its profile distribution of root amount was mostly in the surface(0~5 cm) soil layer.The fixing force of rice roots had a trend of conventional-tillage and seedlings transplantedconventional-tillage and seedlings broadcastno-tillage and seedlings broadcast,and the longer the no-tillage time was,the more obvious the tendency would be.
