Isothermal Sections of Pd-Cu-Sn System at 500 and 800 °C

2014
The isothermal sections of the Pd-Cu-Sn system at 500 and 800 °C up to 50% Sn were constructed. Two ternary phases τ and (Pd,Cu)3Sn of tetragonal and orthorhombic syngony respectively were discovered in the palladium-rich region. At both temperatures, solubility of tin in the FCC solid solution phase (α) has a pronounced minimum around 75-85 at.% Cu. γ-Pd2−x Sn and η-Cu6Sn5 phases of Ni2In type form a continuous (Pd,Cu)2−x Sn phase.
