Research on PSP Offset Effect of Hydrogen-Electricity Hybrid Pipelines Caused by Geomagnetic Storms

2021
The Pipe-Soil Potentials (PSP) offset of buried metal pipelines caused by geomagnetic storms will threaten the operation safety of hybrid energy transmission pipeline with hydrogen and superconducting cable. It is a critical issue in the planning and design of hydrogen-electricity hybrid pipelines. In this paper, based on the mechanism of geomagnetic storm invading long-distance buried pipeline, the equivalent circuit model of the pipeline is established using the Distributed Source Transmission Line (DSTL) theory. Then, considering the distance between the insulation joints, radius of the pipeline, coating resistivity, output current of potentiostat, the PSP distribution characteristics of hydrogen-electricity hybrid pipeline under geomagnetic storm is carried out. The interference law of geomagnetic storm on hydrogen-electricity hybrid pipeline is obtained. Finally, based on the simulation calculation, the optimal design method of hydrogen-electricity hybrid pipeline is acquired considering the geomagnetic interference.
