Overview of Mathematical and Numerical Solution Methods

This chapter provides a brief overview of the mathematical and numerical methods which are employed for solving the systems of equations that arise from the kind of subsurface environmental problems discussed in this book. It serves the interested reader as a reference while, for details, we refer to textbooks focusing on these subjects, such as Chen et al. (2006), Helmig (1997).
