Arteriopathy with several aneurysms resembling the aortitis syndrome

1975
An autopsy case of arteriopathy resembling the aortitis syndrome, which showed aneurysms in several large arteries on the clinical course, is presented.Pathological examination revealed generalized intimal thickening of elastic arteries including aorta and large muscular arteries.Mesenteric, pancreatic and hepatic arteries were stenotic and obstructed due to the intimal thickening. Aneurysm was shown in pancreatico-duodenal, bilateral axillar, right-side iliacal arteries. The affected arteries showed no inflammatory process except reparative reaction to thrombus on the aneurysma. It is characteristic that even little affected arteries reveald small medionecrotic foci. From the pathological facts, we suspected that aneurysms and obstructive changes of arteries followed from the medial necrtic changes which may be metabolic or immunological.
