Study of Multiuser SC in MIMO Transmit Antenna Selection System Over Rayleigh Fading

2016
With the advancement in the wireless technology, the era of science in the world has changed radically. Everywhere there is use of wireless technology, deployed to ease the work of mankind. The advancement in the fourth generation mobile wireless technology inspired us to do a research in the field of diversity combining technique. The aim of our project entitled “Study of Multiuser selection combining (SC) in Multi Input Multi output (MIMO) Transmit An-tenna Selection System over Rayleigh Fading” is to study the performance of MU-MIMO systems using Selection Combining technique. Very few researches have been done in the field of Selection Combining antenna diversity technique since its performance is low as compared to other diversity combining techniques but it has the advantages of having simple circuitry and the chance that all the branches are in deep fade simultaneously is very low. Hence, it can also be implemented in certain applications where it is necessary that the receiver does not miss any good signal. The goal is to create a cellular environment with single Base stations having multiple antennas and multiple users with multiple antennas and to calculate BER and Outage Probability using Selection Combining technique for different number of users. MATLAB is being used to evaluate the BER and Outage Probability for different number of users with different number of recep-tion antennas. The results are being plotted in graphs and comparison is being done. Selection combining technique is being used for selecting the branch containing maximum SNR value compared to other branches.
