Negative pressure wound treatment system with a buffer unit has a buffer unit disposed between an actuating member (30) and a wound dressing (60) is connected. The buffer unit (50) has a similar physical state as the wound and uses its negative pressure, to compensate for the loss of negative pressure in the wound in order to withstand the pressure increase in the wound during low leakage.
