Biological Characteristics of Gravitarmata margarotana and Integrated Control Techniques Concerned

Gravitarmata margarotana is the major pest attacking the seeds of Pinus tabulaeformis.Study on the biological characteristics of Gravitarmata margarotana showed that it occurred in one generation in one year.Mature adult leaves the cone and drops to the ground through silk generated by itself.It spends over winter with pupa cocoon in the letter and weeds.In the early of May,larva begins to feed on bark of tender shoot,leaves and cones.Two days after,it gets into the cone and feeds on seeds.Management practice and manual work as well as the chemical spray will perform better in control of it.
