Transmission Performance of Large A eff Ultra-Low-Loss Terrestrial Fibre in 200 Gb/s EDFA and Raman-Assisted Systems

We demonstrate that ultra-low-loss, 125 μm 2 effective area terrestrial fibre can achieve 55% longer reach compared to generic 82 μm 2 fibre, enabling 200 Gb/s PM-16QAM transmission over ∼4,500 km (with no margin) or ∼2,100 km (with 3dB margin).
