Grain Sampling Device for Free Convection Experiments

A unique device for monitoring moisture movement in a mass transfer experiment was developed and tested. The device enable sampling of grain for moisture content determination without affecting the free convective currents propagated during the mass transfer experiment. The comparison of actual moisture level in the grain mass and as analysed from the samples using the device showed 99.70 percent accuracy. The device is ideal for experiments in convective heat and mass transfer in a hygroscopic porous media.
