Protective Effect of Dexrazoxane on Epirubicin Cardiotoxicity
2013
Objective To observe the preventive and therapeutic effects of dexrazoxane(Dexrazoxane,DEX) against the cardiac toxicity induced by epirubicin(Epirubicin,EPI).Methods A total of 60 patients who were diagnosed by pathological examination in breast cancer, gastric cancer or malignant lymphoma, and having the chemotherapy regimens with EPI were selected.Corresponding chemotherapy was chosen according to the cases. All patients were treated for 2 treatment cycles, and then were randomly divided into control group and observation group,30 cases in each. The control group continued the original chemotherapy for 4 treatment cycles, while the observation group used the original chemotherapy combining with DEX(DEX∶EPI=10∶1).Patients in both groups were treated for 4 treatment cycles. The changes in electro-cardiogram,left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) and cardiac troponin I(cTnI) qualitative detection were observed. Results The 2 groups of electrocardiogram abnormal differences and LVEF changes were statistically significant(P0.05 or P0.01) since the fourth cycle, while the cTnI qualitative detections were no statistical difference. Conclusion Dexrazoxane have certain protective effects against the cardiac toxicity induced by epirubicin.
