Relationship between ica operon of iatrogenic Staphylococcus epidermidis and formation of bacterial biofilm on surface of polyvinyl chloride.

2010
OBJECTIVE To analyze the genotype of iatrogenic Staphylococcus epidermidis(SEP) and explore the relationship between its SEP ica operon and the formation of bacterial biofilm on the surface of polyvinyl chloride(PVC).METHODS The genotype of iatrogenic SEP was detected by the application of PCR method,DNA gel imaging and gene sequencing, and the capability of biofilm formation of SEP on the surface of PVC material was determined by semi-quantitative method.RESULTS The positive rate of 16S rRNA of iatrogenic SEP strains was 100.0%.The genotypes of icaADB+,atlE+ and fbe+ strains accounted for 57.1%.The genotype of icaADB negative but atlE and fbe positive strains accounted for 37.5%.The capability of biofilm formation of ica operon positive strains of SEP on the surface of PVC material was more strong than that of ica operon-negative strains(P0.01).CONCLUSION Iatrogenic SEP can be divided into two types of ica operon negative and ica operon-positive bacteria.Iatrogenic SEP with positive ica operon can increase the capability of biofilm formation on the surface of PVC material the.It may be the genetic basis of iatrogenic SEP to distinguish between symbiosis and aggressive strains.
