Synthesis of [PW9O37{Fe3-xNix(OAc)3}](9+x)− (x = predominantly 1 ) and oxidation catalysis by the catalyst precursor

Abstract The Fe 3- x Ni x -substituted Keggin-type heteropolyanion, [PW 9 O 37 {Fe 3- x Ni x (OAc) 3 }] (9+ x )− ( x =predominantly 1), was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, Mossbauer, 1 H NMR, magnetic moment, FAB mass, acid/base titration, and IR spectroscopy. The resulting catalyst precursor well catalyzed the selective oxidations of aldehydes, cyclohexene, and cyclohexane.
