Procedure and automatic trigger mechanism braking a vehicle.

2002
Method for automatic activation of a deceleration of a vehicle to prevent a collision with another object or to reduce the consequences of an imminent collision with another object, detecting objects in the path of the vehicle using signals of a device for the emission and reception radar signals or lidar or a device for receiving video signals or a combination thereof, comprising variables of vehicle motion, determining a risk potential based on the detected objects and the movement variables and controlling the deceleration device of the vehicle based on the potential given hazard, characterized in that the deceleration means operate in one of five states, means inactive deceleration being in a first state, operating the decelerating means in a state of preparation braking in a second state, in verifying or n third state one deceleracioncon a value clearly less than the maximum possible deceleration of the vehicle deceleration, operating in a fourth state deceleration with deceleration value approximately corresponding to the maximum possible vehicle deceleration, and verifying in a fifth state deceleration with wherein the front wheels are locked and the rear wheels remain free of locking.
