Casa da descoberta itinerante: análise de uma trajetória de 1999 a 2019

2021
The travelling exhibitions of Science Centers and Museums are a resource that allows for the democratization and popularization of scientific knowledge, reducing the geographical and social barriers that are so present in our country. This work deals with a qualitative, descriptive and documentary research, in which reports, memories and photographs are used as sources, in order to share the trajectory of the travelling activities of the Casa da Descoberta, the Fluminense Federal University main space for scientific dissemination, between the years 1999 and 2019. We seek to show the scope of the itinerancy, the initial training of tutors, the impacts on the public and the difficulties of holding the exhibitions. The travelling activities were carried out in different scenarios, such the National Week of Science and Technology. "Casa da Descoberta" was also present in public and private educational institutions; in municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro and other states, always with diverse audiences. The analysis of the documents showed that the financial resources impact both the quantity and the scope of the travelling of Casa da Descoberta and that it is urgent to implement public policies that support Education, museums and their actions to popularize Science.  Despite these financial limitations, the quality of the actions was maintained due to the commitment and determination of the team involved (coordinators, monitors and technicians). In these 20 years of operation, Casa da Descoberta has already organized 118 travelling and our main achievement was to understand the aspirations of the public that participates in these actions, creating affective bonds, breaking, or at least, reducing the communicational and attitudinal barriers that exist between museums, Science and the population.
