ANALYSIS OF THE POSSIBILITIES FOR USING 12.5 CM THICK WOODEN SLEEPERS

The authors make an economic analysis of the possiblities for using wooden sleepers on the PKP. What is involved concerns factors affecting the strength and technical characteristics of the wood used for sleepers and the effect of humidity and sleeper impregnation. The authors also deal with the effects of reducing the thickness of sleepers on their strength and especially that of the rail fastenings.
