Microspherules:Important Information Carriers Bridging Microscopic and Cosmicoscopic Worlds

Microspherules are subspherical to spherical particles with diameters less than 1mm.They can be subdivided into cosmic microspherules,impact microspherules,volcanic microspherules,biogenic microspherules,sedimentary microspherules,diagenetic microspherules,and industrial fly ashes in terms of genesis.Microspherules are not only the important indicators of terrestrial and extraterrestrial events,but also the important bonds between microscopic and cosmicoscopic worlds,and are also the perfect information carriers of interdisciplinary integrated research.This paper reviews the progresses and existing problems of microspherules studies in terms of identification characteristics,formation mechanism,and application.We propose that the further study of microspherules would be promoted by strengthening the interdisciplinary integrated research(e.g.earth science,astronomy,nanotechnology and life science etc.),applying new techniques,conducting mathematical and physical simulation and forecast.
