Chemical Constituents of the Bark of Ilex urceolatus

2015
A novel hemiterpene glycoside, urceolatoside A (1), together with known two hemiterpene glycosides (2, 3), two triterpenoid saponins (4, 5), and two aromatic compounds (6, 7), was isolated from the bark of Ilex urceolatus, a new species belonging to the genus Ilex. Their structures were elucidated as (2E)-2-methylbut-2-en-4-ol-1-O-[(5″-O-(7″E)-caffeoyl)-β-D-apiofuranosyl]-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (urceolatoside A) (1), aohada-glucoside C (2), pubescenoside B (3), ilexsaponin B1 (4), ilexsaponin B2 (5), p-hydroxyphenethyl-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (7) by spectroscopic methods. Among them, compound 1 was a novel hemiterpene glycoside; compounds 6 and 7 were isolated from this plant for the first time.
