A polarizing plate, and a method of manufacturing the same

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate which has excellent polarizing properties over a wide wavelength range and is excellent in weather resistance, and to provide a method of manufacturing the polarizing plate efficiently at a low cost. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate comprises anisotropic metal nano particles produced by reducing metal ions in a liquid crystal matrix. It is preferable that molecules of a liquid crystal compound are fixed in an alignment state of any one of a substantially horizontal alignment, substantially vertical alignment, diagonal alignment, hybrid alignment and spiral alignment in the liquid crystal matrix and the reduction is at least one of photoreduction, thermal reduction and chemical reduction.
