The Fatigue State and its Related Factor of Naval Sailors on Surface Ship after Long Voyage

2008
[Objective] To investigate and analyze fatigue states and its related factor of naval sailors on surface ship after long voyage.[Methods] After long voyage, the fatigue state and its related factor of naval sailors were investigated with Questionnaire of Subjective Fatigue Feeling, and the results were analyzed by statistical method.[Results] The occurrence rate of single symptom of the somatic, mental, nervous and esthetic factors was 14.9%~54.1%,13.8%~50.8% and 5.0%~21.5% respectively, and the total occurrence rate of all symptoms of the three factors was 80.1%,68.5% and 48.6% respectively. The occurrence rate of single "usually or always" symptom of the three factors was 0~4.4%,0~3.9% and 0~1.1% respectively, and the total occurrence rate of all "usually or always" symptoms of the three factors was 10.5%,8.3% and 3.3% respectively. The total occurrence rate of all subjective fatigue symptoms and "usually or always" symptoms was 85.6% and 12.7% respectively. The sailors' educational background, fight position, age, length of service on naval ship, body mass index(BM1),quantities of daily smoking and weekly drinking was positively correlated with fatigue scores individually(r=0.150~0.316,P0.05).General linear model for single dependent variable and multiple factors showed that the major factors influencing fatigue scores were educational background(P0.01),fight position(P0.05),quantities of weekly drinking(P0.05),BMI(P0.05) and length of service on naval ship(0.05) by turns.[Conclusion]The subjective fatigue symptoms were mild but ubiquitous in naval sailors after long voyage. The educational background, fight position, quantities of weekly drinking,BMI and length of service on naval ship were the major related factors of fatigue scores. The fatigue scores increased with the increase of educational background, quantities of weekly drinking,BMI and length of service on naval ship,as well as the upgrade of fight position load.
