Estimation of Ultiamte Strengths of Partial Shear Connection Composite Beams with Compact section

2005
In this paper, experimental and analytical studies on ultimate strengths of simply supported composite beams with compact-section were conducted. Test specimens in which 400days were past after casting were totally four specimens, the span is all 6.5m. To evaluate ultimate strengths for degree of shear connection, positive moment failure tests were conducted for three specimens in which degree of shear connection are different among these specimens and another negative moment test was carried out. Elastic-plastic finite element analysis considering relative slip between slab and girder was executed and these analytical results were compared with test results. From the analysis and tests, the effects of long-term behavior of concrete, partial shear connection or interaction and material nonlinearity on the ultimate loads of composite beams were discussed.
