Review on Icing Detection Techniques of Pavement

Icing makes roads ’ friction coefficient greatly reduced,which could induce traffic accidents.Icing auto-detecting and timely warning are important in ensuring a safety driving.Icing auto-detecting techniques mainly rely on variety of icing detectors to perceive and warn.At present,icing detectors have several types,such as fiber sensor,electric sensor,pressure sensor and optical sensor.The principles and characteristics of various methods of ice detecting are summarized in this paper,and the discussion on their engineering feasibility has been made.
