Analysis of the reason and prevention on postoperative knee function disorder following interior fixation on femoral fractures by interlocking intramedullary nails

2006
Objective To explore the reason on postoperative knee function disorder following internal fixation on femoral fractures by interlocking intramedullary nails and the corresponding preventive measures. Methods From January 2001 to August 2004,184 cases of femoral fractures were treated by interlocking intramedullary nails. All of the cases used the distal target device to set the distal locking screw. All kinds of appearances of the postoperative knee function disorder were analyzed.Meanwhile, these cases were divided into two groups:group A(108 cases) were operated in normal way and got recovery spontaneously;group B(76 cases) were controled with synthetic measures during and after operation.Comparing the assessment results by hospital for special surgery knee rating scale(HSS) three months after operation in both groups. Results Internal fixation on femoral fractures by interlocking intramedullary nails will bring influences on postoperative knee function in different degrees. Through comparing,it could be found that three months after operation the HSS of postoperative knee showed statistically significant differences between the two groups. Conclusion The process with the locating shaft on the distal target device of the femoral interlocking intramedullary nails,is the reason causing the postoperative knee function disorder.Taking synthetic measures will lighten these bad influences benefit for the early recovery of knee function as well as promote the healing of the broken bone.
