Introduction Health literacy is the “capacity to obtain, communicate, process, and understand basic health information and services to make health decisions”. There is significant room for improvement in physician-patient communication strategies to enhance health literacy. For example, prior studies have documented that only 25-40% of clinicians use recommended strategies such as teach-back. During 2015-2016, the AAP Council on Quality Improvement and Patient Safety tested a prototype for a quality improvement (QI) learning collaborative for members to earn Maintenance of Certification credits utilizing distance education and a learning session at the AAP National Conference and Exhibition (NCE). …
