Outcome-based Continuing Education: A Quality Improvement Intervention to Improve Family-centered Communication in Pediatrics

Introduction Health literacy is the “capacity to obtain, communicate, process, and understand basic health information and services to make health decisions”. There is significant room for improvement in physician-patient communication strategies to enhance health literacy. For example, prior studies have documented that only 25-40% of clinicians use recommended strategies such as teach-back.
