Clinical contrast analysis of endoscopic and open thyroidectomy for primary hyperthyroidism

2010
Objective:To compare the clinical effect of endoscopic thyroidectomy with open operation for primary hyperthyroidism. Methods:The clinical data of 17 cases of endoscopic thyroidectomy for primary hyperthyroidism and 22 cases of open operation were retrospectively analyzed. The differences in FT3,FT4 and TSH between pre-operation and the 1st,6th,12th,24th months after operation and between the endoscopic group and the open group were compared. The differences of operative time, blood loss, hospital stay, hospitalization cost, cosmetic results, complication, and recurrence rate were compared between the two groups. Results:There were significant differences in FT3,FT4 and TSH between pre-operation and post-operation(P0.05).The blood loss, hospital stay in endoscopic thyroidectomy group was less than that in open operation group, cosmetic results were better(P0.05);There was no significant difference in complication and recurrence rate(P0.05),but the operative time in endoscopic group was longer than open group, hospitalization cost was higher(P0.05).Conclusions:Endoscopic thyroidectomy for primary hyperthyroidism is feasible, and with less blood loss, better cosmetic effect, and quicker recovery.
