Dual-polarized L-band Flat-wire Open Loop Antenna

In this paper, a differentially fed dual-polarized L-band flat-wire open loop antenna is proposed and investigated. Despite being relatively small, the antenna has excellent performance, with wide bandwidth (904 MHz), high radiation efficiency (99%), high average realized gain (8.72 dBi), high isolation (>35 dB), and low principle plane cross-polarization ( −25 dB outside a certain θ range. By introducing a sidewall on the ground plane, we are able to control the range of θ by varying the height of the sidewall and accepting a small reduction in bandwidth.
