Foreign Body in Diverticulum of Junction of Rectum and Sigmoid Colon Removed by Colonoscopy: A Case Report

Foreign bodies(FBs) in alimentary tract are common in clinic.Most of them can be excreted spontaneously through conservative treatment and some of them need surgery to remove,but the FBs taken out by gastroscopy and colonoscopy are not many.Factors affecting the treatment are mainly patients' age,clinical status as well as the size,shape,nature and location of foreign body.This paper reports a case that accidentally swallowed a piece of chicken bone.The chicken bone went downward to the junction of rectum and sigmoid colon and was embedded within the diverticulum for two months,thus leading to severe inflammation reaction of the patient.Fortunately,the foreign body was removed successfully by colonoscopy.
