Molecular Marker assisted Selection in Transferring Powdery Mildew Resistance Gene from Dasypyrum Villosum to Sichuan Wheat

2000
Molecular identification and marker assisted selection of wheat powdery mildew resistant lines with different originated Dasypyrum villosum and their progenies were carried out, by using the SCAR marker of Pm21 develop from a 6VS/6AL wheat Dasypyrum translocation chromosomes line. The results are showed as following: 1.The marker can easily detect the chromosome 6V of D.villosum in wheat background, and that of D.breviaristatum. It is likely that the SCARs can serve as specific markers to trace the corresponding chromatin of genus Dasypyrum; 2.The SCARs amplified from the progenies of the cross between pm34, a 6VS/6DL translocation line with Sichuan cultivated lines, can be used to distinguish the resistant plant from the breeding population. The utilization of the SCARs to wheat breeding for powdery mildew resistance is reliable and practical. In addition, the strategies of molecular marker assisted selection in Sichuan wheat breeding are also discussed in the paper.
