La producción de la geografía española a través de las bases de datos Scopus e ISI Web of Knowledge

This paper uses the SCOPUS and ISI WEB OF KONWLEDGE databases to evaluate some aspects of the scientific production and impact of the Spanish geographers. SCOPUS has been used to identify the group of the geographers with an H Index ≥5, whereas the ISI database served to deep into more detailed aspects. Among the obtained results, the higher Teodoro LasanTa-MarTinez y Jose M. Garcia-ruiz 222 presence of physical geographers must be underlined. Some authors have published more tan 70 papers in international journals and account for more tan 1000 cites. It is also noteworthy that a few geographers have an H index ≥20, that is, at the level of the geographers with the highest impact in the world. Catena and Geomorphology are the journals that, to a greater extent, publish papers from the Spanish geographers. The validity and interest of this type of quantitative analysis of the scientific production is discussed.
