Diagnosis and treatment horizontal semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common inner ear disease which can cause positional vertigo in current. Horizontal canal BPPV (HC-BPPV) is the second common type of BPPV, with complex pathogenesis, the actual incidence is always underestimated. Since the first case reported in 1985, the diagnosis and treatment of HC-BPPV has made a significant progress. Etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment developments relevant to HC-BPPV are reviewed in this article.
