Mathematical Modeling of Material Pressing with the Account of its Compression and Heating

2019
Abstract The non-isothermal process of free compression for the materials, obtained by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis, during which the material undergoes shear deformation, is considered. The mathematical model of this process is developed in a cylindrical coordinate system under assumptions about the constancy of the press plunger's linear velocity during the pressing time, the linear and quadratic relationship between the density of the material's sample and its height. With the application of this model the decisions can be taken regarding the additional heat sources use (heaters in the plate) to compensate for heat losses or create a special temperature profile in products, the use of special molds, the need of thermal insulation.
