Entre cinema, música e memórias: Análise do documentário Mobília em Casa e suas representações de Brasília

2020
This article aims at analysing of the full-length documentary Mobilia em Casa - Moveis Coloniais de Acaju e a cidade (2014), a production narrated in first person by the director Jose Eduardo Belmonte. This study seeks to relate the documentary to representations of Brasilia in different periods, starting at its construction and evolving to the maturity of the city. The narrative, filmed in ten different locations in the Brazilian Federal District, presents images that create representations which are used here as connection points to consider the objective of this analysis. Based on criticisms that have already been made about Brasilia, one wonders: do the images of the full-length documentary contribute to the crystallization or deconstruction of the classic vision that one has of the city from outside of it (as well as of its failure and of how its shape and spaces did not foster sociability among its inhabitants)? In order to find possible answers, the documentary will be confronted with such theses through a critical review of the literature. As a methodological reference, the General Theory of Semiotics, by Charles Sanders Peirce, will be used, which will assist in the reading of such representations and of the possible meanings associated with them.
