Utilization of Asana (Bridelia retusa) and Bhend (Thespesia populnea) tree leaves in complete feeds for goats.

2008
An experiment was conducted to evaluate Asana and Bhend tree leaves based complete feeds. Three isonitrogenous complete feeds viz. T0-containing no tree leaves (control); T1-containing Asana tree leaves and T2-containing Bhend tree leaves were formulated and evaluated in local crossbred goats. The apparent digestibility of all the nutrients viz. DM, CP, EE, CF and NFE were higher in T1, T2 as compared to T0 groups. The DCP and TDN intake were significantly higher (P < 0.05) in T1 compared to other treatments. Nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus retention values were observed to be higher in T1, T2 as compared to T0 groups. The animals fed on T1 diet recorded significantly higher daily gains as compared to T2 and T0 diets.
