Abstract Aim Toinvestigate the association betweendifferent familyhistory risk categoriesandpreva-lenceofdiabetesin theChinesepopulation. Methods Thefamilyhistory ofdiabeteswasobtainedfrom eachsubject, andan oralglucose toler-ance testwasperformed formeasuringthe fasting andpostloadglucoseandinsulinlevelsbasedonanational representativecross-sectionalsurveyof46,239individuals(age 20years)inthe2007–2008 ChinaNational Diabetes andMetabolismDisorders Study. Thefamilyhistoryriskcategoriesofdiabeteswere high, moderate,andaverage(FH2 andFH1:atleasttwo generationsandonegenerationoffirst-degreerelatives withdiabetes,respec-tively;FH0: no first-degreerelatives withdiabetes).
