Clinical Utilization of Ultrasound in Vascular Disease

2021
As the practice of diagnostic imaging has grown over recent decades, ultrasonography has proven its effectiveness in a wide range of applications across specialties. It is relatively low cost, portable, and poses no known risk to patients making it attractive to non-radiologist physicians. In vascular disease, ultrasonography is particularly useful in the evaluation of carotid, abdominal aortic, renal and peripheral vasculature. This chapter will discuss the usefulness of ultrasound in the screening and diagnosis of pathologic states focusing on vascular diseases.
