Tribological Performance of Urea-Based Lubricating Grease Containing MoS_2 Nano-Platelets Particles

The tribological properties of urea-based lubricating grease containing MoS2 nano-platelets and micro-sized MoS2 particles were evaluated using a MQ-800 four-ball tribometer,respectively.The morphologies of the worn surfaces of steel balls were observed on a scanning electron microscope.Elements on the worn surface were analyzed using an energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS).The results showed that MoS2 nano-platelets as additive in urea-based lubricating grease not only had good effect on friction reduction and wear resistance,but also improved the lubrication ability of urea-based lubricating grease at high load.A MoS2 lubricating film was found on the worn surfaces,which improved the wear resistance,friction reduction and extreme pressure of urea-based grease.
