Development of Novel Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer and Its Influence on Carbonation Performance of Concrete

The concrete carbonation seriously affects the quality and service life of concrete. There are many factors that affect concrete carbonation, among which water reducing agent plays a key role in concrete carbonation. A new-typed polycarboxylate superplasticizer (E-PC) was prepared by free radical copolymerization of a new type of Vinyl polyether (EPEG) under the action of redox initiator at low temperature. The chemical structure of E-PC was characterized by FT-IR and GPC, and its effect on the carbonation of concrete was investigated. The test results showed that the novel polycarboxylate superplasticizer could improve the workability, compactness, carbonation resistance and service life of concrete.
