Theresearch anddevelopment workfora wireless sensors basedhomemonitoring system, especially forold, ill or infirm people, hasbeenreported earlier. Thesystem isbasedon sensors whichdetect theusagepattern ofelectrical appliances, whether they areonoroffandatwhattimeofthedayornight they areswitched. Toincrease theversatility ofthesystem, several more sensors ofdifferent types canbeincorporated Inthis paperwe report thedevelopment andintegration ofa bed-sensor inthe existing selective activity monitoring (SAM)system. Thesensor can detect whenaperson issleeping onthebed.
