Code Phase Synchronization Technique In Ds/ss Packet Radio Communications Under A Rayleigh Fading Channel

In this paper we present a code phase synchronization scheme which employs differential detection structure with a novel verification method incorporated for the coincidence detection. To cope with the unknown, fluctuating SNRs of incoming packets, a detection window technique(2) is used. This novel verification method effectively eliminates the beforehand computation(3)(4) which is needed to find the optimum threshold level. We applied this synchronization scheme to the mobile satellite environment and found that the differential detection structure could subdue error-incurring sidelobes quite effectively, and that significant improvement in terms of packet loss probability also be achieved.
