Energy Management System for the Demand Response in TUCN Buildings

2018
Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN) is currently testing a pilot project in its own aggregated buildings within the Horizon 2020 Project entitled DR-BOB (project no. 696114/2016). The main purpose of this pilot project is to develop an energy monitoring and targeting system, along with a DR program in electricity load curve control. The system includes several hardware components that, together with a software interface, is able to test the load curve control effectiveness at the pilot site. Demand Response is basically a great opportunity for consumers to become key players in the operation of the electric grid. The aim of the paper is to describe the integration of different technical components, including hardware and software with the energy management systems at the Romanian site, to describe three possible Scenarios that are implemented within the project and the estimated results regarding the energy consumption reduction. More details regarding the load curve control are also presented, so as to enhance the decision making in demand response scenarios, related to the control of different assets.
