Competency analysis of pilots and establishment of discriminant equations for excellent flying cadets

[Objective]To discover the characteristics of excellent cadets, to establish the ability prediction equation of excellent flying cadets, and provide the basis for the optimization selection of excellent flying cadets and the improvement and upgrading of the self-designed selection system. [Methods] According to the expert experience method to obtain pilot data, the ability and competency characteristics of flying cadets were constructed, and the ability prediction equation of excellent ones was constructed.[Results]After classification, among 192 flying cadets, 11 were grounded, 6 were outstanding, 175 were ordinary,and the grounded rate was 5.73%. Compared with the results of the general assessment(back substitution method), the error rate of the established discriminant function model for excellent flying cadets was 0, and that for non-excellent pilots was 22.6%. The total error rate of the model for the 2 types of pilots was 21.9%, and the total discrimination accuracy was 78.1%.[Conclusion]The ability of outstanding pilots to understand, accept information and grasp new knowledge is higher than that of non-outstanding group. The discriminant equation of outstanding students can predict the performance of cadets in the flight learning process based on their ability test scores in the initial test.
