Impact of flexible technologies on end-users' price under different levels of renewable generation

2016
This study analyses how sources of flexibility in the system can affect the end users' level of electricity prices. In particular, we want to investigate whether flexibility sources like electricity storage technologies and renewable power curtailment change consumers' expenditure for electricity purchase. The final cost of purchasing power for end-consumers can be used as an indicator of the level of social welfare. Our results show that both the level of installed renewable capacity and the location of a new pump hydro storage plant in one of the three selected zones play an important role in the impact the level of end users' electricity price.
