A Novel 2D Manganese(II) Coordination Polymer Exhibiting Ferromagnetic Interaction

The reaction of the ligand rac-(R,S)-2,2‘-bipyridine-3,3‘-dicarboxylic acid 1,1‘-dioxide [(R,S)-H2BDCD] with Mn(CH3COO)2·2H2O gives a novel 2D coordination polymer, {Mn[(R,S)-BDCD](H2O)} (1), which contains a dimeric Mn(II) core with dioxide (O,O atoms of carboxylate ligands) as the bridge units and exhibits ferromagnetic interaction between Mn2+ ions.
